CAPACITY BUILDING ON VALUES EDUCATION CONDUCTED AT SWAMI SANT DASS PUBLIC SCHOOL, JALANDHAR

A CBSE capacity building program on VALUES EDUCATION THROUGH SPORTS AND GAMES was conducted at Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar .The school teachers attended this learning session and participated in various activities and sessions organised for inculcating creativity and curiosity among students. The resource persons for this learning event were Mrs. Sunita Kumari and Mrs. Jyoti Bagga.The participants learned the importance of integrating values in students through various activities like balloon games,discussions and write ups .The participants engaged in interactive activities important to impart values among students.The session was facilitated by venue director, Principal Dr. Sonia Mago who emphasised the need to focus on inculcating values as the are the base of a healthy society.

POCSO Workshop for Drivers & Conductors ๐Ÿš

A successful workshop was conducted under POCSO by our own alumnus , Mr Vansh Sarangal to create awareness among our drivers and conductors about child safety and protection.

The session focused on sensitizing transport staff about their crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for children during travel. Important topics like identifying signs of abuse, appropriate behavior, and timely reporting were discussed in detail.

The workshop was interactive and informative, encouraging participants to share their experiences and learn practical ways to handle real-life situations with care and responsibility.

Our respected Principal Dr. Sonia Mago emphasised the importance of vigilance, compassion, and accountability in safeguarding every child.

โœจ Skill-Based Workshops & Awareness Sessions at Our School โœจ

Our school recently organized a series of informative and hands-on workshops aimed at developing practical skills, awareness, and confidence among students.

๐Ÿ”Œ Electrical Training Workshop (Class VII)

An electrical training workshop was conducted for the students of Class VII to provide practical knowledge of basic electrical work. Students learned how to fix a bulb, join electrical wires, and connect a plug safely. The instructor demonstrated each activity step-by-step, and students performed the tasks under proper supervision. Basic safety measures while handling electrical appliances were also emphasized. The session was highly interactive, and students showed great enthusiasm while gaining valuable technical skills.

๐Ÿงต Sewing Workshop (Class VIII)

A sewing workshop was organized for Class VIII students with the objective of imparting basic stitching skills. Students learned how to thread a needle, stitch a button, and make simple stitches. The instructor guided students patiently, and students practiced under guidance. Safety measures while handling needles and scissors were also discussed. Students actively participated and enjoyed learning this useful life skill.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Rainwater Harvesting Awareness Session (Class VIII)

An informative session on rainwater harvesting was conducted to spread awareness about water conservation. Teachers explained the importance of saving water and demonstrated how rainwater is collected and stored for future use. Students were introduced to the rainwater harvesting system installed in the school and learned how it helps in conserving water and recharging groundwater. The session helped students understand the value of water as a precious natural resource.

๐Ÿ‘” Personal Grooming Workshop

A personal grooming session was also organized to guide students on maintaining proper hygiene and a smart appearance. Students were given exposure to dressing neatly, tying knots, making braids, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. The session highlighted the importance of good grooming habits in daily life.

All the sessions were engaging, informative, and highly successful. They provided students with practical exposure, essential life skills, and confidence to apply their learning in real life.

๐ŸŒŸ Empowering Educators through Kaushal Bodh: A Skill-Based Learning Initiative ๐Ÿ“š

A workshop on Skill Education was organised at Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar with the aim of promoting the vision of skill-based learning among educators. The session focused on strengthening the integration of vocational education in schools in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023. The workshop provided valuable insights into the importance of developing practical skills, creativity and future readiness among students, enabling them to connect classroom learning with real-life applications.

During the session, Ms. Surabhi , Skill Coordinator, highlighted the importance of integrating vocational education into mainstream schooling. She explained how skill education enhances youth employability and helps students develop essential 21st-century skills. She also discussed the student’s skill journey from exploration to application across Grades 6–12 and its connection with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4.4, which focuses on equipping youth with skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Another engaging session on Kaushal Bodh was conducted by Ms.Sonia Bajaj , who introduced skill-based learning for the middle stage (Classes 6–8). She emphasised the dignity of labour and explained the three forms of work—Life Forms, Machines & Materials, and Human Services. She inspired teachers by sharing examples of personalities such as Thomas Edison, Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Sachin Tendulkar, and A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, encouraging educators to nurture the hidden talents of every child.

Ms. Charanjeet Kaur conducted an enriching and insightful session on the implementation of Kaushal Bodh in a classroom scenario, beautifully demonstrating how learning can be made practical, meaningful, and life-oriented. She shared excellent examples on working with machines and materials as well as working with human services, making concepts clear through real-life applications and connecting learning with empathy and social responsibility. What made the session truly impactful was her use of practical examples from her own life, helping learners understand how skills can be applied in everyday situations. A special highlight was her clear and critical demonstration of first aid, emphasizing the importance of timely response, correct methods of collecting information, and practical implementation of these skills in real-life situations. Her approach made learning interactive, engaging, and deeply relevant, truly reflecting how Kaushal Bodh builds not just academic knowledge but essential life skills.

Mrs. Rakhi eloquently highlighted how project-based learning promotes “learning by doing,” connects concepts with real-life situations, and fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication among students. Through practical examples, she elaborated on the three forms of work—work with life forms, work with machines and materials, and work with human services—making the concepts clear and relatable. She also explained the concept of 3H—Hands that work, Heart that knows, and Head that learns—highlighting the importance of holistic development by integrating skills, values, and knowledge. The session further provided clarity on the structured flow of projects, from preparation to execution and reflection, along with the four curricular goals aimed at developing core skills, vocational understanding, essential values, and contribution to home and society. Overall, the session was highly informative, practical, and inspiring for all educators.

Continuing the enriching series of Kaushal Bodh sessions, an insightful presentation was delivered by Mrs Baljit Kaur, focusing on the effective implementation of skill-based education in schools. The session emphasized competency-based learning by integrating practical skills with academic knowledge and highlighted the importance of selecting age-appropriate, locally relevant projects that promote hands-on learning, teamwork, and critical thinking. She also explained the DIY (Do It Yourself) concept, and a video was shown to make her presentation impactful and easy to understand. It also covered structured assessment methods, including formative and summative evaluation along with values and real-life application, while stressing the need to integrate Kaushal Bodh into the school timetable with dedicated periods for skill education. The role of teachers, local experts, community involvement, and the availability of resources and skill labs were also discussed to enhance experiential learning. The session concluded with the idea of organizing a Kaushal Mela, providing students a platform to showcase their skills and creativity, making the entire experience highly informative and inspiring in nurturing confident and future-ready learners.

The workshop concluded with words of appreciation from the Principal, Sonia Mago, who commended the resource persons for their informative and inspiring sessions. She appreciated the efforts made to empower teachers with new perspectives on skill-based learning and encouraged the faculty to actively implement these ideas in classrooms to help students become confident, skilled and future-ready individuals. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“š

An inspiring session on Innovation and Entrepreneurship was conducted today, focusing on the importance of skill-based learning and the vast opportunities emerging for today’s youth. The discussion encouraged class 11 students to nurture creativity, practical thinking, and entrepreneurial mindset among students to prepare them for a rapidly evolving future.

We were honoured to have Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Assistant Professor at NIT Jalandhar, as the resource person, whose rich academic and industry experience added great depth to the interaction.

Addressing the gathering, our respected Principal shared, “Education today must move beyond textbooks. When we empower students with skills and innovative thinking, we prepare them not only for careers but for life. We should guide them to be JOB GIVERS rather than being JOB SEEKERS.”

SKILL EDUCATION AND KAUSHAL BODH CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME CONDUCTED AT SWAMI SANT DASS PUBLIC SCHOOL, JALANDHAR 

One day CBSE Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on the Mandatory Implementation of Skill Education and Kaushal Bodh was conducted at Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar on 16 December 2025 .The  programme aimed at mandatory implementation of Kaushal both framework from the current session and strengthening the integration of skill-based learning alongwith vocational awareness at the school level. The programme was conducted by the resource persons Dr.Sonia Mago ,Principal, Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar and Ms. Dipinder Kaur, Principal, Lions Public School, Gurugram.
The session was attended by 100 principals, directors, headmistresses, coordinators and educators from the Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal etc. It highlighted the importance of experiential learning, life skills, and employability skills, enabling teachers to effectively implement Kaushal Bodh as a foundational component of holistic education. 
CBSE Director, Skill Education Dr. Biswajit Saha interacted with educators on virtual platform. This session emphasized that skill education empowers students with practical knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for real-world challenges and future careers.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from educators, who actively engaged in exciting activities like Mentimeter quiz, ice breaker activity, Kaushal Charades and skill enhancement activity where realistic items were given to them and everyone showcased their skills with collaborative learning. The session concluded with a reaffirmation of the institution's commitment to nurturing skilled, confident and proud youth with the integrated learning of various domains ie life forms, machines and materials and human services.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON STEM EDUCATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING CONDUCTED AT SWAMI SANT DASS PUBLIC SCHOOL 
A two day capacity building programme on “STEM EDUCATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING “was conducted at Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar for teachers of CBSE schools of Punjab. 52 teachers attended this learning session and participated in various activities and sessions organised for inculcating creativity and curiosity among students. The resource person for this learning event was Mr. Arun John Masih, Principal, BaptistSchool ,Chandigarh. The participants learned the importance of integrating all subjects through a cohesive application based approach in contrast to a rote based system .The participants engaged themselves in various learning activities like quiz, designing smart lunch boxes, magical bags and interesting mazes .The session was also moderated by Principal Dr. Sonia Mago who emphasised the need to focus on developing critical thinking, creative thinking and collaborative approach to deal with the challenges in fast changing technology based world.

ANVESHIKA PHYSICS BHARAT YATRA REACHES SWAMI SANT DASS PUBLIC SCHOOL JALANDHAR

A GPS-enabled Physics ‘Mashal’ under the initiative of NANI and IAPT reached the campus of Swami Sant Dass Public School ,Jalandhar after its passage through many states namely Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh,Delhi ,Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.This initiative launched under the guidance of legendary physicist Padma Shri Prof H C Verma aims at igniting the young minds through interactive physics demonstrations. On this occasion, an interesting competition ‘Physics behind Magic ‘was organised.The event was convened by Dr Neetu Verma, KMV Anveshika coordinator and judged by Dr Harleen Singh and Dr Sonic Bhatia Associate Professor at KMV College, Jalandhar.In this event 20 students participated and explained the scientific concept behind their activity. Anveshika team also conducted a wonderful experimental demonstration and Lepton quiz.

In this competition first prize was bagged by Dhruvi Sharma and Kashvi Sehgal of Seth Hukam Chand School ,Jalandhar and Hridayaka Sood and Navalpreet Kaur of Swami Sant Dass Public School Phagwara.The second position was bagged by Anishka Jain and Kyra Sehgal of Delhi Public School, Jalandhar. The third position was bagged by Swayam and Tanishq Chadha of Swami Sant Dass Public School, Jalandhar.

Principal Dr Sonia Mago ,a Physics enthusiast, appreciated the presentations of the participants and encouraged them to nurture and develop their scientific temperament for holistic growth and development.

“Your career is your life’s signature—make it bold, meaningful, and true to who you are.”

A highly insightful Career Counselling Session was conducted for the students of Classes 11 and 12 (Commerce stream) on 24th July 2025 at our school. The session aimed to guide and inspire students about the various career avenues available in the field of Chartered Accountancy.

We were honoured to host CA Divya Vohra and CA Rachna Aggarwal, two distinguished professionals from the CA fraternity. The session was graced by their presence and enriched with their deep knowledge and practical insights.

The key speaker, CA Divya Vohra, conducted an engaging and informative talk, where she elaborated on the scope, challenges, and immense opportunities in the field of Chartered Accountancy, both in India and abroad. She shared valuable insights on the academic journey of becoming a CA, the skills required to thrive in the profession, and the various sectors where Chartered Accountants are in high demand—including finance, taxation, auditing, corporate law, consultancy, and international firms.

She also emphasized the global relevance of the Indian CA qualification, highlighting exciting career opportunities available in countries like the UK, UAE, Singapore, and Australia, especially for those pursuing additional international certifications alongside their CA degree.

CA Rachna Aggarwal also interacted with the students and encouraged them to stay focused, set clear career goals, and develop analytical and ethical thinking—qualities essential for success in the financial world.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round, where students asked thoughtful questions about CA foundation preparation, articleship experience, and balancing academics with extracurriculars.

Our Principal, Dr. Sonia Mago, also addressed the students during the session and appreciated the efforts of the resource persons. She inspired the learners with her encouraging words, urging them to stay dedicated, informed, and resilient in their pursuit of excellence.

A hands-on AI, Robotics and Coding Innovation Lab Workshop was recently conducted for students of Classes 6 to 10 and their teachers, aiming to introduce them to the dynamic world of AI, robotics, and coding. The session was led by expert resource persons Mr. Rahul Mehta and Mr. Shiny Jayesh from CMS Associate, who shared insightful knowledge and practical exposure to the latest technological advancements.

The primary goal of this workshop was to equip participants with future-ready skills and inspire young minds to pursue careers in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics. Students explored various concepts through interactive sessions and were encouraged to start working with innovation kits to bring their ideas to life.

A seminar on Best Teaching Practices was organized, featuring diverse sessions led by various departments. The event aimed to share innovative teaching methods and strategies to make learning engaging and effective.

Highlights from the Sessions

– Punjabi Department: Ms. Manpreet Kaur demonstrated creative ways to teach "Laga Matra" using teaching aids like muharani charts and magic boxes.

– English Department: Mrs. Shaili Rathore showcased her talent for teaching grammar through interactive tools like flashcards, puppets, and games.

– Hindi Faculty: Mrs. Daizy presented innovative methods for teaching poetry and alankar using games, riddles, and interactive activities.

– Science Department: Ms. Charanjeet demonstrated the use of real objects, pneumonics, role-plays, and storytelling to clarify complex concepts.

– Social Science Department: Mr. Surinder emphasized the importance of storytelling, mind maps, multimedia, and field visits to make the subject engaging.

– Maths Department: Ms. Sumiti employed innovative methods to teach maths concepts, incorporating singing to make learning engaging. She also demonstrated that math and moral values can be effectively taught simultaneously.โ 

– GK Faculty: Ms. Damanpreet presented a range of student-made teaching aids, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and art integration.

– EVS: Ms. Hemlata demonstrated interactive methods for teaching EVS, including show-and-tell, flashcards, and riddles.

– Computer Department: Ms.Nancy showcased hands-on practices, project-based learning, gamification, and interactive tools to teach coding.

– Economics Department: Ms. Monica Kukreja used engaging activities and lectures to explain complex concepts like budgeting and taxation.

The Principal Dr. Sonia Mago appreciated the efforts of all faculty members and encouraged them to continuously strive for excellence. She emphasized the importance of using effective and interesting teaching aids to make classroom teaching engaging and effective and also shared her insights on artificial intelligence and its applications in education.

AREER COUNSELLING WORKSHOP

As the academic landscape and job market evolve, it is pertinent to provide comprehensive career guidance to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities ahead. To enrich students about myriad career options after class 12, a career counselling program was organised. The mentors Dr. Parveen Kakkar , Asstt. Prof. (CSE), Dr. Mani Bansal, Asstt Prof. (EE) and Dr. Suman Tandon, Associate Professor helped students to learn about career options and make informed decisions about their future. They were advised on potential career paths to pursue after senior secondary exams.

The Principal Dr. Sonia Mago desires to provide direction, clarity in their educational and career choice. She believes that key reasons for career counselling is vital as they help in identifying strengths, setting realistic goals, enhancing decision making skills and at the top reducing anxiety and stress.

We all believe in wonder of teaching lies in watching caterpillars become butterflies. The metamorphosis demands churning effects of teaching strategies which teachers learn over a span of time and experience is the magic wand to turn stones into diamonds. To enrich teaching fraternity, Faculty Development Programme was held comprising of four different sessions headed by Ms. Sumiti Joshi (Mathematics), Mr. Harminderjit Singh (Physics), Ms. Sonali and Ms. Inderjit Kaur (English). They explained various ways related to verbal and non-verbal indicators, learning outcomes, and various tools to be used by teachers as to turn classrooms into Happy classrooms.

The Principal Dr. Sonia Mago emphasized on 21st century skills to be inculcated among students.

The sessions proved quite fruitful to enhance everyone's knowledge.

A workshop for staff was organised in school as a part of personal development program.

Such workshop is like a cool shower that helps one to create a life of purpose, joy and confidence. Going through a hectic and stressful monotonous routine, a respite is much required to introspect and the mentor Vivek Vansal, AOL expert has an outreach of more than 1M people.

The workshop revolved around important points like accepting life, keeping a positive approach and holistic development.

The Principal Dr. Sonia Mago has a keen eye to provide faculty a healthy environment to work and overall it was an interesting and interactive session for all the attendees.
